Where We Concentrate
Four Areas. Sustained Effort.
Each area is anchored in scripture, informed by current events, and translated into practical opportunities for engagement.
Focus Area 01
Voter Education & Empowerment
Deuteronomy 1:13
"Choose some wise, understanding, and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you."
Proverbs 29:2
"When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan."
We educate constituents on their voting rights and empower them to exercise those rights at every level of government — municipalities, jurisdictions, regional, local, and national, across every electoral and voting cycle. We also inform our network about voter suppression tactics and the methods used to limit our ability to vote.
Focus Area 02
Criminal Justice Reform
Proverbs 31:8-9
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."
We educate Love in Action constituents on the ongoing impact of mass incarceration and oppressive sentencing guidelines for Black and Brown people, and create opportunities to address and alleviate them. We also address the needs of formerly incarcerated citizens, including their restoration and successful transition back into society.
Focus Area 03
Education Reform
Proverbs 18:15
"An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge."
We increase awareness about the factors affecting our educational system, focusing on the unfair treatment of people of color. We address the long-standing issues of discriminatory distribution of resources and funding, unjust local and federal educational legislation, the ever-growing achievement gap, and the school-to-prison pipeline.
Focus Area 04
Economic Justice Reform
Proverbs 14:31
"Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God."
Psalm 82:3-4
"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."
We identify policies that deny access to equitable economic opportunities in low-income communities, and work to provide the foundation upon which individual and communal prosperity is possible. We also create educational opportunities to enhance understanding of economic justice, aiding in dismantling a system that fosters conditions of job insecurity, homelessness, and hunger in our society.
